The idea of the electronic pickups came forth from the desire to build a feedback guitar. In order to have a strong feedback from the pickup to the actuator, it was necessary to come up with a different kind of pickup than the coil based pickups, because coil based pickups will give unwanted feedback between the pickup and the actuator, similar as the feedback between microphone and loudspeaker. Piëzo's did not have the sound that was wanted, and also to create a hexaphonic feedbacksystem a would be necessary to place a piëzo under each string. After long experimentation and improvement it was found that the electronic pickups have many more possible uses than only the feedback guitar . |
